Dr. Staudt is the Principal Owner of Andover Technology Partners (ATP), a management and technology consulting business that commenced operations in mid-1997.
In that time ATP has satisfied a list of clients that includes some of the most important companies in the energy industry and major government agencies. Most engagements involve developing strategies for growth or increased earnings, economic and technical evaluation of technologies, valuation of technology-based businesses, or other business strategy matters that our clients have an interest in. In some cases, the consulting services concern strictly technical issues, particularly relating to clean energy or air pollution control, fossil fuel combustion, or power generation.
Dr. Staudt is a nationally recognized expert on air pollution control and clean energy. Dr. Staudt has authored emissions control technology documents and software that are used by air pollution control and energy professionals in the United States, Europe, and Asia. He has been an advisor to US EPA for decades, and developed cost and performance algorithms that are used by the US Environmental Protection Agency. On behalf of his clients, he has testified in litigation, and public hearings, appeared on television and made presentations before Congressional staff.
Dr. Staudt’s work has been cited in numerous EPA clean air rules published in the Federal Register, including rules related to greenhouse gases, hazardous air pollutants, regional haze, and criterial pollutants. Some of his activities include assistance on clean energy initiatives, development of US EPA’s Greenhouse Gas Technology database, development of cost and performance data on clean energy technology, emission control technologies, new facilities and energy efficiency measures for US EPA’s new industrial sector modeling tool, support of state rulemaking measures, benchmarking of GHG emissions technologies for private sector clients, and development/deployment of power plant technologies.
Dr. Staudt has extensive experience leading businesses in commercializing advanced technology for the energy industry. During his career, he has been in senior management positions with several technology companies serving the energy sector. He had a key role in the commercialization and sale of technologies that are currently used in hundreds of industrial facilities worldwide. Specific accomplishments at three of his previous employers are briefly discussed below:
- As Vice President for Business Development at Spectrum Diagnostix (SDX), Dr. Staudt directed the commercial activities for this development-stage company. During the period of his employment, SDX released its core product – an advanced process gas analyzer – to the petrochemical, electric utility, and chemical process industries. The commercial potential of the product attracted an investment by BOVAR, Inc. of Calgary, Alberta, Canada for 100% of SDX stock. SDX was previously owned by Physical Sciences, Inc. (PSI) of Andover, MA. While an employee of PSI from 1990-91, Dr. Staudt wrote the original business plan for the business that was to become PSI Environmental Instruments in 1992 and Spectrum Diagnostix in 1995.
- As Product Director of NOx Control at Research-Cottrell from 1992-1995, Dr. Staudt started a new product line for the company that posted four years of consistent growth and increasing net income with positive cash flow. In this time Research-Cottrell’s market position in the nascent NOx Control market went from no position at all to a leading supplier of Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction. Under Dr. Staudt’s leadership, by 1995 Research-Cottrell had licensed 1,731 MWe of electric utility generating plants with Research-Cottrell NOx control technology and had supplied the technology to several facilities from other industries. Research-Cottrell was a wholly-owned subsidiary of Air and Water Technologies (Amex: AWT) and is now owned by the Hamon Group of Belgium. - As Programs Manager at Fuel Tech, Inc. from 1988-1990, Dr. Staudt managed a chemical process engineering group in the United States and managed company field operations in Germany and Japan. Fuel Tech supplies proprietary air pollution control technologies and furnace additives to major industries worldwide. Fuel Tech is currently the market leader in Selective Non-Catalytic Reduction technology and trades on the NASDAQ small cap market under (FTEK).
- As a Project Engineer at Northern Research and Engineering, an Ingersoll-Rand subsidiary, Dr. Staudt designed pioneering gas turbines and other turbomachinery, including development of a new intercooled Dresser-Rand gas turbine.

Military Service
From 1979 to 1984 Dr. Staudt served as a commissioned officer in the U.S. Navy in the Engineering Department of the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS ENTERPRISE (CVN-65), attaining the rank of Lieutenant (O-3) prior to leaving the service. As a naval officer, Dr. Staudt qualified as Chief Engineer for US Navy nuclear powered vessels.
